In the latest shocking emergence from the world of disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly, Buku Abi (otherwise referred to as Joann Kelly) who is R.Kelly daughter has alleged that her father sexually abused her when she was a minor.

A Daughter’s Journey,” how she was so frightened by the ordeal that she In a new documentary called “Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey.” Abi shares her story, revealing that the ordeal frightened her so much that she couldn’t even tell her mother. She also explains that she lived in denial, unable to accept what her father did to her. Thus, couldn’t even tell her mother. “I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life and changed who I was as a person. Changed the sparkle I had and the light that I used to carry.”

Kelly has denied the allegations through an attorney. As Kelly is currently serving time following his conviction in 2021 for sex trafficking and racketeering. Then in 2023, what followed was his prior 30-year sentence being extended to 31 years following his conviction on separate child pornography and enticement charges. The initial federal charges against Kelly were levied nearly in tandem with the release of the 2019 Lifetime documentary series, “Surviving R. Kelly.” Majorly revealed shocking amounts of alleged sexual abuse by the singer and featured multiple accusers.

Abi stressed that she felt like the prison sentence was a relief for her, her mother and her siblings because it kept him away from them. Notably, Abi claimed that she idolized her father when she was young. However, that all changed one night when Kelly was throwing a party and Abi decided to sleep in the office instead of her room so she could be closer to him and the evening’s events.

She claimed that she was around the ages 8 or 9. She said that she woke up to Kelly touching her. She didn’t know how to react and so pretended to sleep. She was so ashamed that for a long time she did not come clean to her mother until when the guilt became unbearable. Her mother was destroyed by the this revelation.

According to the divorce papers between the father and mother, it was noted that he had had relations with a minor. Abi’s mother and siblings fled because they could not handle Kelly’s behaviors. Kelly through his lawyer vehemently rejected the claims and stated that it was all a stunt.
