KUCCPS Portal Opens

KUCCPS reopens the portal for 2026 university application revision. Students have until May 22 to secure placement

The KUCCPS portal is now open for the first revision window, giving thousands of 2025 KCSE candidates a fresh opportunity to secure university placement before the May 22, 2026 deadline.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened a second application window for university placement, giving 2025 KCSE candidates another opportunity to revise their course choices or submit fresh applications. In a statement on May 16, 2026, KUCCPS announced that the application portal will remain open until May 22, 2026, following the closure of the first application phase on May 6.

For many students, today marks a turning point. Notably, a second chance to align their academic futures with their aspirations. Whether you missed the first window entirely or did not secure your preferred course, the KUCCPS portal is open and ready for action.

Who Should Log In Now?

The revision window targets applicants who did not secure courses during the initial application period. The second window also benefits candidates who wish to revise their course choices in line with their academic performance and career aspirations. Form Four leavers who attained qualifying mean grades in the KCSE examinations but have not yet applied for placement are urged to submit their applications during the revision period.

According to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome, applicants who secured provisional placement into degree programmes have already been notified through SMS and the KUCCPS portal, while unsuccessful applicants have been invited to revise their choices. “We call upon all 2025 Form Four leavers who qualified for degree programmes but have not applied for placement, and those who applied but have not secured a course, to log into the system and apply again,” said Dr Wahome.

Students who have already received an SMS confirming provisional placement should sit tight. They have been advised to remain patient until July 2026, when KUCCPS will officially communicate details of their university and course placements.

Why Some Courses Have Been Removed From the Portal

A key development students must understand before logging into the KUCCPS portal is that not all courses from the first window remain available. KUCCPS disclosed that highly competitive programmes such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Engineering were filled during the first application phase due to overwhelming demand and limited capacity in universities. As a result, the courses have now been removed from the application portal, with students who missed out being encouraged to select alternative programmes that still have vacancies.

KUCCPS clarified that Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy programmes are currently unavailable and will only reopen for the September intake. This is important planning information for students with a strong interest in health sciences, the September window will bring fresh opportunities.

Strong Opportunities Still Await

Missing out on a first-choice course is not the end of the road. Kenya’s university landscape is rich with rising institutions offering competitive degree programmes across diverse fields. Universities such as Tharaka University, Chuka University, Kaimosi Friends University, Embu University, Kirinyaga University, and Machakos University continue to offer excellent academic environments with available spaces in high-demand disciplines including Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Technology, and Telecommunications.

KUCCPS revealed that 212,510 students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examination have so far applied for various programmes, representing 79.1 per cent of the 268,714 Kenyan candidates who qualified for university admission. That means a significant number of eligible students have yet to secure their place, and this window is their moment.

Nationwide Support for Applicants

KUCCPS has gone the extra mile to ensure no student navigates this process alone. To support applicants, KUCCPS has deployed career guidance officers to 23 KMTC campuses countrywide. The agency has also partnered with the Huduma Kenya Secretariat to provide placement support services across all 59 Huduma Centres nationwide, where trained Huduma Kenya Universal Service Agents will assist students with KUCCPS applications and placement services.

KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome has been clear about the intent behind reopening the portal: “No student will be left behind.”

How to Access the KUCCPS Portal for 2026 Application

Accessing the KUCCPS portal for the 2026 application is straightforward. Applicants are required to visit the KUCCPS website, students.kuccps.net, and access the Student’s Portal to complete their applications. Use your KCPE Index Number or Birth Certificate Number as your initial login password.

Once inside, students can browse available KUCCPS portal degree courses, check cluster weights against published cut-off points, and make informed selections.
